How It Began

As a child, the simplest things—bedsheets, boxes, and a basket of mismatched clothes—became the keys to entire kingdoms. Every blanket fort was a castle, every costume a doorway to adventure. In those magical afternoons, I discovered my first superpower: the ability to become anything I imagined.

That spark never left me. For over 35 years, I’ve poured that same spirit of play, craft, and fantasy into designing costumes and wearable art. Friends and family often told me my creations left them with “no words.” What began as a joyful hobby has now blossomed into a passion I’m delighted to share with kindred spirits everywhere.

Here, you’ll find crowns, headdresses, masks, and costumes crafted not only to be worn, but to be experienced. Each is built to help you step fully into your own story—whether as a queen, a warrior, a fae, or something entirely your own imagining.

Welcome to No Words. May you find the piece that leaves you—and those who see you—utterly enchanted.

About the Maker

I’m Lorri, the heart and hands behind No Words. A lifelong maker with a learn-by-doing spirit, I taught myself the art of costume and headdress design through years of DIY crafting, trial, and plenty of joyful error. What began as creating the wild imaginings of my children—turning their dream worlds into tangible costumes and props—grew into a passion that continues to shape every piece I create today.

For over two decades, I worked in the structured world of the high tech Silicon Valley — but the call of creativity kept whispering, growing louder with every passing year. At last, the pull was too strong to resist. I surrendered to the magic, and No Words emerged as the place where imagination could finally take center stage.

My inspiration comes from the natural world, the magic of mythology, and the allure of all things fantasy. I love how costumes allow us to step into a story, suspend reality for a moment, and even discover parts of ourselves we didn’t know were there. Watching my child craft a character—complete with strengths, flaws, and endless adventures—showed me the true power of this kind of “play”: it unlocks courage, curiosity, and voice. That is the magic I hope to pass on through my work.

In my designs, I lean into the luxurious and the lush. Floral crowns burst with oversized blooms in deep, rich colors, often hiding tiny secrets—lace, feathers, a jeweled glimmer, perhaps even a butterfly or frog. When I create full costume ensembles, I deliberately begin with upcycled or vintage garments. This not only ensures better construction than most disposable costumes but also deepens the storytelling—each piece carries a history, now transformed into something new.

At No Words, every creation is meant to be more than worn—it’s meant to be lived in, as part of your own unfolding story.
